Athletic Trainer (Req #1315)

Caldwell University invites applications for a full-time, 10-month Athletic Trainer. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President and Director, Athletics, the Athletic Trainer is responsible for the evaluation, rehabilitation, and care of injuries to student athletes. Other responsibilities include the coordination of insurance forms and claims, providing coverage of home and away athletic events, field preparation, collaborating with coaching staff regarding student health and wellness issues, coordinating pre-season physicals, team physician visits, and off campus appointments for student athletes, managing the athletic training budget, and ordering and maintaining equipment and supplies related to the athletic training facility.

Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or a related field, plus 1-2 years of effective experience and the following certifications are required: NATA/BOC Certification, Professional Rescuer/Healthcare Provider CPR/AED Certification, and New Jersey State Athletic Training Licensure. Candidates must be willing to support the Dominican Catholic, liberal arts mission of the University.

Compliance and Student Welfare Assistant, Athletics (Req # 1314)

Caldwell University invites applications for a full-time Compliance and Student Welfare Assistant, Athletics. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Compliance and Student Welfare the Assistant will be responsible for supporting the direction and administration of all aspects of Caldwell University’s NCAA Compliance Program. Job duties include, but are not limited to;

  • Monitoring student-athlete academic progress through contact with academic advising, meetings with the students, and report data. Keeping supervisors, coaches and athletic administrators informed of student progress.
  • Coordinating student-athlete study hall. Monitoring attendance and preparing study hall reports for coaches.
  • Planning education sessions for student-athletes. Working with various departments to help maintain and/or improve academic success.
  • Creating, distributing, and collecting conflict letters for all teams.
  • Maintaining eligibility and advising files on assigned student-athletes.
  • Tracking admissions and initial eligibility status of incoming prospective student-athletes.
  • Assisting in the preparation of national, conference, and institutional reports, waivers, and appeals.
  • Completing and collecting all required forms for official/unofficial visits, promotional activities, outside competitions, and NLI requests.
  • Assisting in maintaining NCAA squad lists, team practice schedules, and countable athletically related activities for all teams.
  • Assisting with coordinating various student-athlete welfare programming.
  • Coordinating rules education meetings for coaches and staff. Providing rule interpretation as needed.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus one to two years of effective experience is required. Must be available evenings and weekend as needed. Proficiency in MS Office, especially Word and Excel is also required. The successful candidate will be able to handle confidential/sensitive information, have excellent communication skills, be attentive to details, able to prioritize and build effective relationships across the institution. Candidates must be willing to support the Catholic Dominican mission of the university.
