The Visual Arts at Caldwell University
The Department of Visual Art & Design provides students with a comprehensive education in the arts that fosters individual creativity, critical and marketable career skills. At Caldwell, individual attention is given so the student can achieve maximum artistic growth. Students begin with foundation classes in drawing, two- and three-dimensional design, and digital media. These classes are designed to develop the students ability “to see” and understand the fundamental elements of design. As students advance, courses in graphics, photography, painting, sculpture, and printmaking provide students with the tools necessary to develop their own ideas and expertise in a specific area.
In the field of art, students may opt for one of the following majors:
- Fine Arts
- Art & Psychology (Art Therapy)
- Graphic Design
- Art & Education
Finding viable careers in the art world after graduation is an important consideration for our students and for our programs. To this end we offer a variety of B.A. and B.F.A. majors that lead to employment in art education, art therapy, graphic design and the museum field. Our rigorous B.F.A. degree in Art and Graphic Design prepares students to pursue advanced study in a graduate M.F.A. program or begin professional art practice.
