Why is health insurance important in the US?

Healthcare in the United States can be very expensive, which may put international students at financial risk if they become sick or injured. Requiring all international students to enroll in the university-sponsored health insurance plan through ISO Student Health Insurance helps cover these costs and reduces the chance that health issues will interfere with their studies. Caldwell University is committed to ensuring our students are best set up for success, both academically and in overall health and wellness.

Mandatory Health Insurance for F-1 International Students

All F-1 international students are required to enroll in the ISO plan and the university will enroll you before the start of each semester (Fall and Spring). ISO will send you an email with your insurance information and access to their insurance portal when you are enrolled. You will be assigned a Member ID and set your own password (your Caldwell Student ID is your original password). You can use the ISO portal to check for in-network coverage, plan benefits, file claims, etc. In addition, you can easily locate nearby doctors
and hospitals by viewing the school sponsored plan page and clicking “Find doctors and hospitals” on the right side of the page under the plan brochure.

Coverage dates:

• Fall 2026: 8/1/2026 to 12/31/2026
• Spring 2027: 1/1/2027 to 7/31/2027

Billing and Payments

International students will be automatically enrolled during the Fall and Spring semesters. The cost of the medical insurance will be billed to your student account and payment will be required by University set due dates.
