Scholarships and Grants
Scholarships and grants are awarded to eligible Caldwell University students based on specific criteria. Unlike loans, scholarships and grants do not need to be repaid. Following are some of the scholarships and grants available to Caldwell University students.
Incoming Undergraduate Students
Academic scholarships for admitted students in the class of 2027, regardless of federal and state grant eligibility, will be awarded on the basis of high school GPA as follows:

The Caldwell Commitment
If you are accepted to Caldwell University, we will help make it as affordable as possible. That is our commitment to you.
New students (incoming freshmen and transfers) can qualify for additional scholarships up to full tuition.
Full tuition grants and scholarships are being awarded to New Jersey students who receive both Federal Pell Grants and the New Jersey Tuition Aid Grant (TAG) and have at least a 3.0 high school GPA.
- The Federal Pell Grant program awards need-based grants to low-income undergraduate students.
- The New Jersey Tuition Aid Grant (TAG) is a need-based financial aid program for full-time undergraduate students who reside in New Jersey and are enrolled in an approved degree or certificate program.
The “Caldwell Commitment” program provides transparent scholarship and grant monies to students entering Caldwell University based on academic merit and financial needs.
Students who want to take advantage of the Caldwell Commitment grant must be admitted to Caldwell University and file the free application for Federal Student Aid known as FAFSA by the February 1st priority deadline to determine eligibility.

Other Scholarships and Grants
Catholic High School Scholarship: The Catholic High School Scholarship is awarded to incoming freshmen or transfer students who graduated (or will graduate) from a Catholic High School. The scholarship award is for $2,000 per year for a maximum of four years for first-time undergraduates and three years for transfer students. The scholarship is automatically awarded upon admission.
St. Thomas Aquinas Scholarship: The St. Thomas Aquinas Scholarship is awarded to academically qualified students who achieve a minimum 3.25 high school average and a minimum SAT score of 1200 or an ACT score of 25. This additional scholarship award will range between $2,000 and $6000 per year depending on the student’s academic qualifications. This scholarship is automatically awarded upon admission. SAT or ACT scores must be received prior to admission.
Talent Scholarships are awarded to full-time students interested in studying art or music. Art Portfolio reviews or music auditions are required. Awards range from $1,000 to $5,000.
S-Stem program: Caldwell University was awarded a National Science Foundation Division of Undergraduate Education Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Program (S-STEM) grant to support the retention and graduation of high-achieving, low-income students majoring in biology, chemistry, or mathematics. Students participating in the program will receive a $5,500 per year scholarship.
SMART program scholarship: Caldwell University’s SMART Program will help meet the local and national need for high school teachers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) by providing scholarships and support to students aiming to teach biology, chemistry, or math at the secondary level. SMART Program Scholars will receive at least $16,000 in scholarship funds for each of their last two years at Caldwell as they pursue a degree in secondary education and a degree in biology, chemistry, or math.
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships are generally awarded to transfer students from community colleges who have earned the distinction of Phi Theta Kappa. Awards range up to $2,000 per year.
Athletic Grants are awarded to full-time students with exceptional athletic ability. Athletic awards vary and may be used for tuition and on-campus room and board.
Caldwell Grants are awarded to full-time freshmen and transfer students who submit a completed FAFSA and demonstrate financial need.
The Rina Spano Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a student with excellent academic progress, who also reflects the true dedication to the University and community. Eligible applicants must be direct relatives of Caldwell University alumni (parents, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews), who have graduated with an Associates’s, Bachelors’s, or Graduate degree from Caldwell University. Cousins are not eligible.
The HITEC Foundation Scholarship
The HITEC Foundation Scholarship is open to Hispanic students studying technology. Students who receive the scholarship are assigned a mentor and gain access to internships and visibility into positions with our corporate partners, such as KPMG, Accenture, Microsoft, Google etc. This scholarship is available to incoming freshman, college students and graduate students.
Scholarship for University Women of West Essex
Scholarships for mature women are available from the University Women of West Essex, Inc. The scholarships are available for women, 25 years and older, who are in need of financial aid to complete their education for an undergraduate degree. Applicants should be attending an accredited college or university, and must be a resident of the West Essex area of Caldwell, Cedar Grove, Essex Fells, Fairfield, Roseland, North Caldwell, Verona, West Caldwell and West Orange, NJ. UWWE raise funds for the scholarship through social and educational activities plus private donations. The deadline for submitting applications is April 20, 2023. Returning Students
Several Scholarships are available to returning Caldwell Students with established GPAs. These Scholarships are offered at various times during the year and are posted by the Office of Financial Aid. To find out when the scholarship applications are available, check the financial aid section of your portal.
The Bryan J Norton Memorial Scholarship
The Bryan J Norton Memorial Scholarship was created in memory of Bryan, a 2020 Caldwell
University graduate of the Sport Management program. Bryan was extremely ambitious and
determined in his career, obtaining many connections in the sports industry – including the
New York Yankees, Major League Baseball, and the New Jersey Devils, and had a positive
impact on all who crossed his path. Bryan passed away unexpectedly in July 2022, and this
scholarship was created to help honor his memory and provide educational opportunities to
students on his path.
Friends of Caldwell University Scholarship:
The scholarship is awarded to full-time Traditional Caldwell University Undergraduate Students with outstanding academic achievement and exemplary service to the college community.
The Jersey Shore Chapter Jane Haveron Continuing Studies/Traditional Undergraduate Student Scholarship:
The Shore Chapter Jane Haveron Continuing Studies/Traditional Undergraduate Student Scholarship offers financial support to a qualifying female student to continue or complete her undergraduate or graduate degree. Mindful of the expenses associated with returning to school and financial challenges faced by women in the workplace who do not have a degree, it is the hope of the Shore Chapter of the Caldwell University Alumni Association that this scholarship will reduce the financial burden of an education and encourage the awarded student to reach her goal of graduation.

Payment Options:
Three-Payment Option:
During the fall and spring semesters, students may pay their tuition in three installments. Students need only pay one-third of their tuition up-front. The three-payment option is available to all students.
