The degree required for a chiropractor is Doctor of Chiropractic (DC), which usually takes three or four years. Many chiropractic schools accept a 4-year undergraduate degree, although many will accept students with 3 years of college work.
Biology, Exercise Science, Health Science
Admission requirements vary among programs. Courses in biology, chemistry, and physics are often suggested.
Individual programs may require additional courses in science, math, humanities, and social sciences.
Northeast College of Health Sciences, (3+3 Program)
*the student may begin the professional program before completing the bachelor’s degree
Apply: Sophomore year at Caldwell.
Benefit: If the student is accepted, they enroll in the chiropractic program after their junior year. The first year of the occupational therapy program can be transferred back to Caldwell and count as the fourth year of the bachelor’s degree.
Application requirements: Grades of C or better in prerequisite courses, GPA > 2.75 (> 3.0 preferred) in all science courses; must submit intention to apply during their freshman year.
Northeast College of Health Sciences, (4+3 Program)
*the student must complete the bachelor’s degree before beginning the professional program
Apply: Junior year at Caldwell.
Benefit: The student knows they have been accepted before their senior year.
Application requirements: Grades of C or better in prerequisite courses, GPA > 2.75 (> 3.0 preferred) in all science courses; must submit intention to apply during their sophomore year
