Caldwell College freshmen Kristen Knorr (Monroeville, NJ/Delsea) was included on the Daktronics Division II All-America Softball Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Knorr, who received honorable mention, is Caldwell’s fifth softball player to be named an All-American in the program’s history.

The Caldwell College baseball team lost a tight game to Dominican College, 6-5 in the first round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament Tuesday afternoon at Veteran’s Park. The loss ends the Cougars’ season with a record of 12-29, while the Chargers (26-24) advance to the next round in Wilmington, Del., this weekend.

Caldwell College senior softball player Katie Margiotta (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) was named to the Capital One Academic All-District 1 Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced. Student-athletes must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.30 and be a starter or significant reserve to be nominated. Margiotta now becomes a candidate for Academic All-American honors.

The Caldwell College softball team saw its run at the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament come to an end with a 4-1 loss to top-seeded Southern Connecticut State Sunday afternoon at Yale University’s DeWitt Family Field. The Cougars, who advanced to the final day of the regional for the third time in the last four years, complete their season with a record of 39-16. The Owls (40-10) advance to next week’s Super Regional against Molloy College.

Caldwell College juniors Chelsea Loscalzo (Bayside, NY/St. Agnes) and Gillian Felix (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) were included on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference All-Academic Team for the 2011-12 winter athletic season, the conference announced today.
