Caldwell, NJ – The Kiwanis Club of Caldwell-West Essex presented the Sister Anne John Scholarship to Caldwell University student, Kishor Baniya, during a presentation luncheon on Thursday, October 1, 2026.

The scholarship is named after Sister Anne John O’Loughlin ‘59 O.P., who served as President of Caldwell University (then Caldwell College) from 1969-1979. During her presidency, the college expanded its curriculum, launched a program for off-campus internships, and established a Campus Child Care Center.

Sister Anne John has been a longstanding member of the Kiwanis Club of Caldwell, inspiring Anthony Thomas, Caldwell-West Essex Kiwanis Club President, to create this scholarship to honor her dedication to serving her community. Sister, now 98, was in attendance and spoke on the history of Kiwanis and the relationship between the Sisters of St. Dominic of Caldwell, the Kiwanis Club of Caldwell-West Essex and Caldwell University.
