CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University Assistant Vice President/Director of Athletics Mark A. Corino has announced the hiring of Christie Conforti as the next Women’s Basketball Head Coach and Assistant Director of Athletics effective immediately.

“We are tremendously excited and pleased to welcome Christie to our institution and athletic department as our Assistant Director of Athletics and Women’s Basketball head coach, said Corino. “I believe Christie is extremely prepared to handle all facets of this position and will be motivated, dedicated and committed to our continued success of the program. I believe Christie has a great knowledge and understanding of our institution’s mission and will work hard to fulfill its goals in a positive manner. Christie brings a wealth of CACC knowledge and experience to our program and she has prepared herself for this challenge. I am happy to provide her with this opportunity and am looking forward to working with her as she will now lead our program through this new and exciting era.”

Conforti comes to Caldwell from fellow Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference institution Concordia College, where she served as the women’s basketball head coach for seven seasons. She previously served as an assistant coach for the Clippers for one plus seasons before taking over as the interim head coach in the middle of the 2013-14 season. Conforti’s first full season as head coach was in 2014-15 and by her third season she led the Clippers to their first ever CACC Championship Tournament appearance in 2016-17. The past season, Concordia forged new milestones under Conforti’s leadership. The Clippers reached the semifinals of the CACC Championship for the first time and earned the program’s first-ever bid to the NCAA Division II Championship.

“I am extremely honored and blessed to be named the next Head Women’s Basketball Coach and Assistant Athletic Director at Caldwell University,” said Conforti. “I would like to thank President Whelan and Assistant Vice President/Director of Athletics, Mr. Corino, for believing in my vision and giving me this amazing opportunity. I look forward to continuing to coach in a great conference like the CACC and building on the championship culture that is already in place at Caldwell University. I am very excited and cannot wait to get started!”

Conforti was a member of the Pace University Setters for two seasons where she earned recognition on the Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the 2007-08 season.

“I am so very proud of Christie. I knew she had the desire and dedication to build a successful program,” said Concordia Director of Athletics Kathy Laoutaris. “I enjoyed watching her grow while building our Women’s Basketball program.  She has a very bright future and I know she will do great things in her new role. I look forward to watching her continued growth and success.”

Conforti hails from Staten Island, N.Y. with her husband Joseph where she attended St. John Villa Academy. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Pace in 2010.
