Caldwell, NJ – Caldwell University had the honor of hosting Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin to present Servant Leadership: What It Means as a Catholic. The lecture was a part of the University’s Founder’s Week celebrations.

Cardinal Tobin discussed what it means to be a servant leader, both in the Church and in all other aspects of life. He highlighted that leadership begins with service, citing the account of Jesus washing the feet of his disciples and how it encapsulates servant leadership. He spoke about how a servant leader is not concerned with their own ego, but with how best to help those they serve flourish.

“This kind of leadership is not weak. It’s courageous. It requires humility, empathy, and a willingness to put others first,” said the Cardinal. Cardinal Tobin encouraged everyone in attendance to look for the servant leaders around them, notice how they truly see and care for the people they serve, and follow in their footsteps.
