Caldwell University’s Sister Maura Campbell Lecture Series presents “Can We Repair Asylum? Towards Just Immigration Standards”
The Sister Maura Campbell Lecture Series at Caldwell University recently presented ““Can We Repair Asylum? Towards Just Immigration Standards” by Dr. John Davenport, professor of Philosophy at Fordham University.
Dr. James Flynn, Department Chair and Associate Professor of Theology and Philosophy at Caldwell University, provided an introduction for Dr. Davenport and his presentation. He started his presentation with an overview of the existing policies and who they affect, giving attendees the information to form their own opinions.
Dr. Davenport then asked audience members to consider how they would create legislation before discussing his idea for a fair and just system. This system proposed a new treaty organization of countries that asylum-seekers and refugees could apply to as a whole. He explained his proposed system, and then finished the lecture by opening the floor to debate and questions.
