Caldwell University to Introduce Cinematic Virtual Reality to the Classroom
New Jersey university joins a growing national network of institutions pioneering innovative immersive learning experiences to empower student success.
CALDWELL, NJ – February 25, 2026 – Caldwell University today announced a partnership with Dreamscape Learn, introducing cutting-edge virtual reality (VR) learning experiences to its classrooms this academic year. Through this collaboration, Caldwell joins a national movement to redefine how students engage with science and other core disciplines, using cinematic storytelling, evidence-based pedagogy, and immersive technology to drive deep understanding and improve academic outcomes.
“As a teaching and learning university, we see immersive technology as a powerful tool for deeper engagement and meaningful learning,” said Dr. Jeffrey D. Senese, President of Caldwell University. “Together, we’re bringing the next generation of experiential education to our campus, strengthening our mission to foster intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and real-world readiness. This collaboration reflects our commitment to preparing Caldwell students not only for academic achievement, but for impactful lives of leadership and service.”
Dreamscape Learn transports students across time, space, and scale, placing them at the center of unfolding narratives as scientists, explorers and investigators. Learners become investigators and problem-solvers, taking on complex, real-world challenges in rich, interactive worlds. Each mission sharpens critical thinking, fosters collaboration, and builds subject mastery for learners of all backgrounds.
Located on the second floor of the Jennings Library in the heart of campus, Caldwell University plans to integrate immersive technology into labs and coursework, offer professional development programs for educators, and support student opportunities to develop custom VR content. In addition to classroom use, the university is exploring partnerships for grant-supported research and opportunities to expand immersive learning access to local schools and community organizations.
“Story has always been the most powerful driver of learning, connecting knowledge to imagination and making ideas unforgettable,” said Josh Reibel, CEO of Dreamscape Learn. “From the moment students first entered our immersive experiences, we’ve seen them engage, work harder, and achieve at higher levels. This partnership with Caldwell University will give students the chance to explore together in new ways that expand how they learn and what they believe is possible.”
A recent study at Arizona State University found that students who used Dreamscape Learn’s immersive biology lab were nearly twice as likely to earn an A grade compared to those in traditional biology labs. These results held true across all student groups and helped inform ASU’s decision to transition all of its introductory biology labs to the Dreamscape Learn platform. Since launching in 2022, the program has reached more than 25,000 students at ASU alone. Caldwell’s plans include ensuring every student is able to experience this technology in some capacity.
