Caldwell University is announcing the addition of Men’s Rugby as a club sport commencing in the 2021-22 academic year.

Caldwell anticipates kicking off next year with Rugby Sevens competition in the spring of 2022 and growing to full 15s competition as the team grows. Caldwell is currently in the process of hiring a coach and will be pursuing membership and affiliation in all of the relevant Rugby organizations and associations.

“Rugby is yet another option for students interested in continuing to compete in Rugby at an affordable, best value university located outside the city, yet still part of the metropolitan area,” said Caldwell University President Matthew Whelan. “Caldwell places an emphasis on our core values of Respect, Integrity, Community and Excellence, values fundamental to the sport of Rugby. I eagerly anticipate the first kick-off and as I do with all of our students and teams, watching the Rugby team excel both on and off the field.”

Caldwell has begun its search for a full-time head coach to build the program and interviews will commence immediately. Any applicants interested in applying for the head coach position should click here.
