AUGUSTA, N.J. – Caldwell standout catcher Kyle Richards (Sayreville, N.J.) has signed a professional baseball contract with the Sussex County Miners of the Frontier League. He played in his first game for the club on Sunday vs. the New York Boulders.

Richards batted .315 wth 21 runs scored, 34 hits, 4 doubles, a triple, two home runs and 13 RBI this past season. For his career, he amassed 119 hits, 21 doubles, six home runs, 22 stolen bases and 62 RBI while hitting .283 in 130 games as the club’s primary catcher for four years. He closes his Cougars career on a seven-game hitting streak, during which he went 14-for-31 (.452) with two home runs and eight RBI as Caldwell made its final playoff push.

The Miners play at Skylands Stadium, and also have local road games at the New Jersey Jackals (Paterson, N.J.) and New York Boulders (Pomona, N.Y.) for fans that want to see Kyle in pro action.
