Newark Public Schools Chief Education Officer Dr. Sharnee Brown stands proudly with five students committed to attending Caldwell this Fall.

In keeping with Caldwell’s Dominican mission to make quality higher education accessible to underserved areas, the University welcomed 37 Newark high school students to campus today.

The group of students with college aspirations were invited to learn about academic programs and the college experience at Caldwell University, as well as the Caldwell Commitment initiative to make tuition as affordable as possible.

Students attended information sessions, went on guided campus tours, enjoyed lunch in the dining hall, and received swag bags to take home. Some students also met individually with admissions counselors  to finalize their application, all being offered admission on the spot.

In coordination with the Newark Board of Education, every public and private high school in Newark was invited to attend the day’s events.

“It was a great opportunity to meet students from Newark and show them what a four-year college experience can look like and what opportunities we can offer,” said Caldwell University Admissions Director Drew Ippolito.
