NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Freshman guard Jahnel Lewis (Jersey City, N.J.) and sophomore forward Lucy Coogan (Kilkenny, Ireland) have been named to the CACC All-Conference Women’s Basketball Second and Third Teams, and sophomore guard Darnell Evans (Deer Park, N.Y.) and junior forward Derrick Bueno (Palisades Park, N.J.) have been named to the CACC All-Conference Men’s Basketball First and Third Teams, respectively, the league announced today.

Lewis finished her freshman year as the team’s leading scorer (16.6 ppg), ranking third in the CACC. She placed eighth in the league in assists (3.4) and ninth in steals (1.9). She scored a career-high 31 points in win over Holy Family on 2/17, after consecutive double-doubles vs. Wilmington on 2/6 and Goldey-Beacom on 2/10. She had a career best 12 assists vs CSC National #3 Jefferson 2/20. She earned a CACC Rookie of the Week honor and four times was on the CACC Honor Roll. Down the stretch, she averaged 19.5 ppg, 4.5 apg, 5.0 rpg, 2.5 spg over last seven, which included three Caldwell wins.

Coogan ranked second on team and fifth in the CACC in scoring at 15.8 ppg, fourth in the league in points per 40 minutes (21.2) and was the team’s leading rebounder at 7.2 rpg. She closed the season by averaging 22.3 ppg over the last eight, including a career-high 34 with 10 rebounds vs. Wilmington. She recorded five double-doubles and earned a CACC Player of the Week honor as well as two Honor Roll statuses.

Evans, All-Met 1st Team, CACC and D2Hoops.com Rookie of the Year and CACC All-Tournament team last year, had an even bigger soph season, ranking first in CACC and fifth in NCAA with 23.5 ppg, He also ranked 1st in the CACC and 11th in NCAA with 2.2 steals per game. He was four-time CACC Player of the Week and earned three Honor Rolls… He notched a career-high 42 points at AIC 11/26 and matched his career best with 10 assists to go with 22 points, seven rebounds vs. Wilmington.

Bueno ranked seventh in the CACC in FG% (54.7), eighth in rebounding (7.6) rpg) and 11th in scoring (15.0). He recorded seven double-doubles, collecting a career-high 19 rebounds vs. Felician and a career-best 28 points with 13 rebounds at Wilmington… He also placed third in the CACC in points per 40 mins (25.7) and fifth in rebounds per 40 mins (13.0).
