CU Art Therapy Gallery

Art therapy is a mental health profession that uses the creative process of art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental and emotional well being of individuals of all ages. It is based on the belief that creative process involved in artistic self-expression helps people to resolve conflicts and problems, develop interpersonal skills, manage behavior, reduce stress, increase self esteem and self-awareness, and achieve insight. At Caldwell, art therapy is practiced within the counseling model.
The mission of the CU Art Therapy Gallery is to highlight the importance of the artist identity for art therapists. The gallery provides a platform for students, alumni, and affiliates of the university to share their voice and illustrate the power of art in communicating about mental health, self care, and social justice.
