Composer, woodwind player and Music Department faculty member Rob Middleton and Jazz Ensemble Soundscapes will perform February 26 as part of the Concert Series.

Caldwell, N.J., February 5, 2015 – Rob Middleton and Soundscapes will perform as part of the Caldwell University concert series on Thursday, Feb. 26 at 8 p.m. in the Alumni Theatre on campus.

Soundscapes is a jazz ensemble built around beautiful timbres, exotic textures and irresistible beats. It includes woodwinds, acoustic guitar, Latin percussion, and vibraphone. With a focus on Brazilian Samba and Latin Jazz, this program will include favorites by Antonio Carlos Jobim Djavan, Clare Fischer, and original music by Rob Middleton, who teaches in the Music Department at Caldwell. The ensemble includes leading musicians on the Brazilian and Latin Jazz New York scene including Paul Meyers, guitar; Rolando Morales-Matos, percussion; Matt King, piano; Leo Traversa, bass, and Vince Cherico, drums.

Middleton is a prize-winning composer and an active woodwind player in the New York area.   He has performed in New York, around the U.S and abroad with many jazz greats, including Wynton Marsalis, Branford Marsalis, Phil Woods, Harry Connick Jr., Lionel Hampton, The New York Voices, Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Lovano, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Woody Shaw, Oliver Lake, David Liebman, Randy Brecker, Jane Ira Bloom, and Jim McNeely.

Individual tickets are $20.00, general admission is $15.00.  The group discount of 10 or more tickets to a single concert is 20%.
