Great-College

Caldwell, N.J. – Sept. 7, 2012 – Caldwell University has been named a Great College for the Liberal Arts in “The College Finder,” a book published by Wintergreen Orchard House, the largest college and scholarship database provider in the country. Placement on the list is based on data from Wintergreen Orchard House, a division of Alloy Education, as well as selections by experts in the college counseling field.

Caldwell University has been receiving recognition in a number of different areas, in fact, several Caldwell University programs have recently received national accreditations. President Dr. Nancy H. Blattner said accreditations received in the nursing, business, education and counseling programs point to the academic strength of college. “We are so pleased that the accrediting agencies recognize the quality and rigor of our academic programs and our excellent faculty,” she said, adding that the accreditations give “our graduates more strength and credibility when they go out into the marketplace for employment.”

The Caldwell University Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program has received initial accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, a national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education to accredit baccalaureate and graduate degree programs in nursing. The nursing program graduated its first class in May.

Two graduate programs in counseling have received accreditation from the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP). The master’s in mental health counseling program and the master’s in school counseling program received the accreditation. CACREP is a national organization that accredits graduate programs that prepare counseling professionals including counselors, counseling supervisors and counselor educators.

Within the last few years, the Division of Business received accreditation for its undergraduate and graduate business programs from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs. ACBSP is a leading specialized accreditation association for business education supporting and rewarding teaching excellence, and has accredited more than 500 business programs throughout the U.S. and worldwide.

The Education Division is in the final year of a seven-year process of pre-accreditation and final accreditation by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council for its undergraduate teacher preparation program and graduate educational administration and supervisory program. The department received initial accreditation in September 2008 and fully expects to receive final accreditation in 2013.
