Melissa Brady ’14 was part of the Disaster Recovery Home Rebuilding group in Manasquan.

Caldwell, NJ –May 6, 2013 –

Caldwell Campus ministry students volunteered with Jersey Cares in April to help rebuild homes at the Jersey Shore devastated by Superstorm Sandy.

Students Melissa Brady, Elizabeth Hooban, Courtney Privett and Chris Petrillo, and alumna Lauren Podkul’12 volunteered for Disaster Recovery Home Rebuilding in Manasquan.

Like many New Jerseyans, Brady grew up going to the shore. Since it is so near and dear to her heart, she said it was tough to see the reality of the damage even five months after the storm.

The students knocked down a wall, removed a cement floor, a toilet and a sink. “It was such a rewarding experience to help people who live so close to us.    We were very happy to be able to help those whose homes were damaged,” Brady said.

Senior Elizabeth Hooban was part of a group of campus ministry students who helped rebuild at the Jersey Shore with Jersey Cares.
