Music Faculty Rob Middleton playing saxophone

Caldwell, N.J., January 24, 2014 – Caldwell University Music Professor Rob Middleton will be co-conducting the New Jersey Intercollegiate Jazz Band in a performance on Feb. 20 at the NJ Music Educators Association conference. The band is a select group of college jazz students from around the state.

Middleton, who co-conducted the band in 2009, said he is excited to work again with this “exceptionally talented and accomplished group of New Jersey jazz students.”

“This is a great forum for bringing student musicians from across the state together to collaborate at a professional level,” explained Middleton, a Montclair resident.

A prize-winning composer and an active woodwind player and teacher in the New York area, Middleton has performed around the U.S and abroad with many jazz greats, including Wynton Marsalis, Branford Marsalis, Joe Lovano, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, and Woody Shaw. He is featured on a number of recordings, both jazz and classical. His many current musical projects and collaborations include the Rob Middleton Quartet, the NewYorkestra big band, the Birdland Big Band, and the BMI/New York Jazz Orchestra. His compositions and arrangements are performed regularly and have appeared in a major motion picture, “The Thomas Crown Affair”.
