McCready Chosen as Caldwell’s NJAIAW Woman of the Year
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J.- Caldwell University softball senior Caitlin McCready (Jupiter, FL) was honored by the New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women as Caldwell’s Woman of the Year on Sunday afternoon.
The NJAIAW honored all its Woman of the Year recipients during the organization’s annual luncheon Sunday, February 7, at Seton Hall University. The NJAIAW hosts the Woman of the Year Luncheon annually in celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. The event included the luncheon and an invitation to the Seton Hall women’s basketball game against St. John’s in the afternoon, where all of the NJAIAW Woman of the Year recipients from colleges and universities throughout New Jersey were honored at halftime.
“Caitlin is an outstanding student-athlete and a leader for our team,” said Head Coach Dean Johnson. “She continues to represent our institution in a positive manner and is well-deserving of receiving this prestigious award. The NJAIWA recognizes Women in Sports Day and it was an honor to be a part of a tremendous ceremony that promotes women’s athletics in the state of New Jersey.”
McCready is a three-year starter for the Cougars as she has started all 161 games she has played in since coming to Caldwell. She is a two-time All-Conference selection by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference as well as Daktronics and National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region honoree. McCready is a career .337 hitter with 54 RBI, 34 stolen bases, 12 doubles, 155 hits and 125 runs scored.

The defending CACC champions will start the 2016 season with 10 games in Central Florida. The season begins on March 11 in Clermont, Florida against the Stonehill College Skyhawks.
