Recalls & Holds

You can place a hold on items that are available on the shelves and on items that are checked out to another person. Place a hold in the online catalog when signed into My Account, at the information desk in person, or by phone.

You will be notified by the Circulation Department when the item is available.

The item will be held for pick-up at the Information Desk for 7 days.

Books needed for course reserves may be recalled at any time. Faculty may recall books for class use. All other books may be recalled after they have been checked out for two weeks.

Recalled books must be returned within five days of receiving a notice from the circulation department.

Fines

As of January 2023, we do not charge fines for overdue items. If an item is damaged or if you do not return an item at all, you will be billed for replacement costs. See below for details.

Damaged & Lost Items

  • Damaged materials are subject to a $20.00 non-refundable processing fee plus damage assessment, depending upon extent of damage.
  • The base charge for a lost book is $50 plus a $20 processing fee.
  • The Library reserves the right to adjust that charge to align with the actual cost of replacement.

Library Notices

  • Library notices are sent to your Caldwell email address.
  • Community borrowers must provide a valid email address at registration.
  • Notices are a courtesy.
  • Library patrons are responsible for notifying the library of any changes of contact information or other information.
