Caldwell, N.J., Feb. 16, 2017 – The Caldwell University Art Therapy Programs Gallery is pleased to present the “Witnessing the Process: 2017 Alumni Invitational Exhibition”, on the third floor of Werner Hall on campus now through April 3.
The exhibition showcases the work of Barbara Azzoil and Cheryl Morse, practicing art therapists and alumni from Caldwell University’s Masters in Counseling with a specialization in Art Therapy program. In this exhibition, one can witness the process of two very different styles of visual storytelling, self-expression and art making. Morse’s work represents her response to her unique experiences with Shamanic journey, a quest to find answers, healing, wisdom, knowledge and guidance in the spirit world through Shamanism, a form of spiritual practice found in the traditions of many people and cultures throughout the world. More of her work can be viewed on her Instagram page, @thatartherapist.
Azzoil’s work as a collage artist depicts her response to the myriad of images in the world. When finding and choosing images, she is directed by her unconscious mind, putting rational thought aside and allowing colors, shapes, and landscapes to appeal to her without overthought. Azzoil relies on intuition to express her unconscious drives.
