A concert featuring chamber music with Warren Helms and Friends takes place 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2016, in the Alumni Theatre. The concert features Helms on piano, Amy Soto-Hamilton on violin and Amy Visscher on cello. They will perform the world premiere of “Scenes without Words” by Charles Greenberg and the composer will be present to speak about his new work. The program will also include “Polka” by Lou Harrison, a modal and hypnotic dance, and Shostakovich’s lush and mysterious “Trio in E Minor.”

Helms is a faculty member at Caldwell. He was recently seen on primetime television accompanying Il Divo and has performed with actress Ann Jillian, Susan Boyle,The Irish Tenors, Aretha Franklin and Clay Aiken. He collaborated with Bill Whelan, the composer of “Riverdance” with the Atelier project at Princeton University. Mr. Helms was assistant conductor/pianist for the Broadway production of Showboat at the Gershwin Theatre and is presently the music director for The Women’s Theater of NJ and with The Bickford Theatre. He is also Musical Director of the choral group Coro Lirico and Director of Music at The Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Wayne.
