Dr. Barbara A. Chesler

Caldwell, N.J., February 23, 2015 – Caldwell University has announced the appointment of Dr. Barbara A. Chesler as its new vice president for academic affairs effective June 15, 2015.

In making the announcement, Caldwell University President Nancy Blattner said “Caldwell is delighted to welcome Dr. Chesler.  She has enjoyed a strong working relationship with faculty members, the division of student affairs and external constituencies at her previous institutions and we will surely benefit from the depth of her experience.”

Dr. Chesler brings special expertise in online development and programming, assessment and accreditation, development of new programs and fundraising.  Her academic career has provided her with increasing levels of administrative responsibility at institutions in Pennsylvania, Virginia, South Carolina, and Georgia. She most recently served as dean of the College of Education and Health Professions at Columbus State University.  Her extensive background also includes holding positions as associate provost for assessment and accreditation and associate dean of the Spandoni College of Education at Coastal Carolina University.  She has worked as a professor and overseen graduate programs at Longwood University and Clarion University of Pennsylvania.

At Caldwell, she will hold administrative responsibility for all academic departments, academic programs, and academic support services and will serve on the president’s cabinet.

Dr. Chesler said she is thrilled to receive the appointment. “My recent visit to campus introduced me to members of a campus community who made sure that students at Caldwell were given opportunities to ignite their passions and later impact the world.   I am excited about the many possibilities we will have to work together to sustain the growth of the institution.”

She has a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University, a master’s from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, and an Ed.D. from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
