Caldwell, N.J., Oct. 20, 2014 – Four Caldwell University students attended the National Student Government Summit held Oct. 2 to 5 in Washington, D.C. The event was hosted by the American Student Government Association, an organization that supports student governments across the United States. The conference offered students leadership training.

Caldwell’s representatives were led by Student Government Association president Kathleen Flynn ’15. “The ASGA National Student Government Summit was an amazing opportunity to network with Student Government Associations across the United States, improve our leadership skills and gain invaluable information about running an innovative and efficient SG,” she said.

Flynn was joined by Sean Puzzo ’17, vice president, Kaitlyn Kazalunas ’15, chief of staff, and Shyam Sharma’ 17, vice president for public relations.

“Working with hundreds of student government leaders to achieve the same goals was a life- changing experience!” Kazalunas said. “What we learned will improve all of our student organizations on campus.”

“When President Kathleen Flynn said, ‘You’re in for an amazing weekend,’ I didn’t know what to expect,” Puzzo said. “What I found was a talented and exceptional group of young leaders getting together to network and learn new leadership skills that will be taken back to their campus and implemented to create and foster the leaders of today and tomorrow.”

This was the association’s 100th conference, and 140 institutions were represented, including public, private, two-year and four-year schools. More than 500 students took part.
