The Caldwell University Counseling Art Therapy Community Treatment Center is partnering with the West Caldwell Library to provide local adults aged 50 and up with an “Art for Wellness” program. 

The three-month series kicks off with a painting workshop led by graduate counseling art therapy interns from the University. 


The schedule is as follows:

Painting workshop- Fridays, Feb. 3, 10, 17, and 24. 10:30 a.m. to noon.   Attendees will learn about the connection between color and emotions and create an inspirational landscape. No artistic ability or experience is needed.

Pastels workshop-Fridays, March 3, 10, 24, and 31. 10:30 a.m. to noon. Attendees will learn how to tell their stories through meaningful objects.

Clay Workshop -Fridays, April 14, 21, and 28.  10:30 a.m. to noon. Attendees will create a hand-shaped dish.


“We are very excited to be partnering with the West Caldwell Public Library to share how art making can enhance wellness, and share information about the services that are available at the Center,” said Cindy Concannon, clinical director of the Counseling Art Therapy Community Treatment Center.  The University has begun offering counseling art therapy services to the community through the Center. 

The programs will be held at the West Caldwell Library, 30 Clinton Road, West Caldwell. Those interested in attending can sign up at the library reference desk, call 973-226-5441, or email programs@westcaldwell.bccls.org
