The Department encourages students to gain experience in psychological research. To provide opportunities for research, various courses are taught in a state-of-the-art lab. Students who are interested in conducting research with a faculty member may take an Independent Study class with that professor. Past research collaborations between psychology faculty and students have resulted in presentations at local and national professional conferences. Some of this research has been published in professional psychology journals.
INTERNSHIP AND CO-OP OPPORTUNITIES
In addition to course work, students are encouraged to gain some real life experience during their college years. Numerous Internships and Co-Ops are available to achieve this. Recent placements include camps for children, nursing homes, mental health facilities, schools and home programs for children with developmental disabilities, drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities, human resource departments, facilities for runaway children, the criminal justice system, immigration services, the New Jersey Division of Family and Youth Services, homes for individuals with cognitive impairment, and many others. Following graduation, many students have been offered employment from sites where they completed their internships.
Students who graduate from Caldwell University with their B.A. degree in Psychology obtain employment in many different fields and settings. Recent graduates are employed as counselors, as teachers, in business and hospital settings, in social services, in human resources, in marketing, and other fields.
