Students in Professor Bob Mann’s “TV and Digital Journalism” class had a news package they produced selected for PBS’s Planet Forward broadcast for its Earth Day programming in April.
“One of the problems is people like this citizen journalism. I have a problem with it, because of those ethics, because of that training. We need professional journalists out there for a democracy, in my opinion. And yes, I can cheer a Facebook revolution, but at the same time, I’d like somebody who had an education in this and draws a paycheck from this—to really not have an agenda.”
