Pianist Nan Childress Orchard

Pianist Nan Childress Orchard will present “Sacred Songs: A Journey of Faith through Music Celebrating the Artistry of Harold DeCou” Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Caldwell University Alumni Theatre. The free concert will run from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. A wine and cheese reception will be held at 7 p.m.

Dr. Childress-Orchard, a resident of Union, N.J. who chairs the college’s music department, will play the harmonically rich and stylistically diverse arrangements of DeCou, a concert artist, composer and arranger of Christian gospel music who died in 2008 at age 76. The concert offers a means for keeping the sacred song tradition alive by introducing beautiful melodies and arrangements to a variety of listeners. A CD of this music will be available for sale at the concert.
