This seminar is designed to provide basic computer knowledge and skills to people with little computer experience who are seeking basic skills to help obtain and keep a job in today’s business environment. The seminar will describe the basic workings of computers and the internet. Students will learn how to use the essential functions of basic computer applications, such as WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint and databases. In addition, techniques for using the internet will also be demonstrated. Students will be mostly learning by doing hands-on exercises.
Professor Arnold Toffler is an Associate Professor of Computer Information Systems at Caldwell College. Professor Toffler has taught a variety of Computer, Networking and Management Information Systems courses at Caldwell College for eight years. In addition, Professor Toffler owns a software development company that develops custom software solutions for large corporations, law firms and financial institutions. Earlier in his career, Professor Toffler worked at Bell Laboratories and AT&T for twenty years. During this time, Professor Toffler worked as an internal and external consultant to national and foreign telecommunications companies implementing data and internet services. Professor Toffler has a Masters degree in Public Administration and Masters Degree in Economics, both from the University of Pennsylvania.
