Learning to Learn:
How to Help Children Succeed in Class

Friday, March 26, 2010 6:00-9:00 PM
Academic Lecture Hall
(in Werner Hall)

Parents often say that they cannot help their children be successful learners because they don’t know how to help children learn better. This workshop will offer many techniques that parents can use to help their children become more effective learners. These include developing mnemonic strategies and using word walls and flash cards effectively. Engaging in inquiry will also be discussed and practiced during the workshop.

Presenter: Dr. Ellina Chernobilsky is an Assistant Professor of Education at Caldwell College. She has a Ph.D. from Rutgers University, an M.A.T. from the University of Memphis, and a B.S. from Upsala College, NJ. Her professional interests include language development, bilingual language acquisition, teaching and learning English as a Second Language, technology in learning and teaching, and parental involvement.
