This workshop will focus on a variety of issues, including the importance of a good "fit" when choosing a college, IDEIA vs. ADA and 504 (entitlement vs. eligibility), the rights and responsibilities of the student vs. the responsibili-ties of the college, the importance of self-advocacy and the parents role in the success of their college student. Some time may also be spent on tips and strategies for freshmen with disabilities.

Target audience: high school students with disabilities, parents of students with disabilities, guidance counselors and transition coordinators.
Presenter Biography: Abbe Benowitz has a Master’s degree in Teaching and is a certified special education teacher. She has been the Coordinator of Disability Services at Caldwell College since 2004.
