What makes Caldwell College unique or special?
Convenience for the students. I am a 43-year old police officer and sole provider in my family. Even with my 10-hour shifts and working overtime, I was able to get back on track with my degree. Some classes I took on campus, while others were taught by professors at our police headquarters in North Brunswick.

What are your future career goals and how has Caldwell College prepared you for them?
My experience at Caldwell has prepared me to continue on and pursue my Master’s degree. I plan to teach Criminal Justice or another area of the law enforcement field.

What lessons have you learned at Caldwell College?
I wasn’t able to complete my degree 20 years ago, and I never thought it would be possible. Now I see I should have done this a lot sooner. It was a great experience.

Along the way, I saw how everyone involved in my education was working toward my goal of graduating. Connecting with my advisor was so important. When I had to miss class for a midnight shift, she would talk to my professors and get the information I needed.

What was your biggest achievement at Caldwell College?
I am the first one in my family to earn a college degree. I came to Caldwell with only 34 transfer credits, and the 120 I needed to graduate seemed so far away. I started with two classes a semester and worked my way up to four.

Besides the degree itself, I felt the biggest sense of achievement when I completed one of my toughest courses, Methods of Social Research. When I finished that course, I knew I’d be able to make it through to the end.
