What makes Caldwell College unique or special?
From an academic standpoint, all individuals are extremely approachable in the Business Department. I’ve made a lot of quality relationships with faculty, staff, and students, which I feel will help me succeed in the professional world. I always had the sense of feeling welcome at Caldwell College.

What are your future career goals and how has Caldwell College prepared you for them?
In the short term, I plan to take the CPA exam in the summer of 2010 and work as an Auditor for an accounting firm. In the long term, I see myself going on to receive a Ph.D. in Accounting so I can teach and work in the Public Accounting field.

When I came to Caldwell College, I had a general idea I wanted to study Business. After about a year, I realized my passion was more technical, Accounting. This came from several professors’ encouragement and support. Very early on, my professors challenged me to develop different skills, such as communication and critical thinking. But they also appreciated my unique point of view and encouraged me to not be afraid to speak up. Coming from a very different educational system that did not allow critical thinking to that extent I felt a sense of release and accomplishment when I was able to do this.

What lessons have you learned at Caldwell College?
Through academics, internships, and extracurricular activities, I’ve learned that it’s extremely important to develop a niche, to be specialized. I have been taught how to distinguish myself in the workplace, so that the quality of my work is appreciated on an intellectual level.

What was your biggest achievement at Caldwell College?
This semester, I received an invitation to join the New Jersey Collegiate Business Association, which only accepts the top 1% of business students in the state. This accolade meant a lot to me because it acknowledged the value of my cumulative academic career at Caldwell College.

What activities were you involved in at Caldwell College?
I really took advantage of the “full package” offered at Caldwell. I was a Resident Assistant as a sophomore, served as president of three different clubs and Delta Mu Delta (International Honor Society in Business), held various positions in the Student Government Association, was a member of the Business Advisory Council for three years, and served on the Sophomore Retention Committee and Caldwell Cup Committee.

Alin received the Departmental Honor in Accounting at Honors Convocation.
