Substance Awareness Counseling is proud to bring you e-CHUG

The e-CHUG (electronic Check-Up to Go) is an interactive web survey that allows college and university students to enter information about their drinking patterns and receive feedback about their use of alcohol. The assessment takes about 6-7 minutes to complete, is self-guided, and requires no face-to-face contact time with a counselor or administrator.

SERVICES

Our services include, but aren't limited to:

Individual Counseling: Individual Counseling is available to all students who are concerned about their alcohol and/or other drug use. Students are provided with a confidential individual assessment of the role alcohol or other drugs may play in their lives. This provides the student the opportunity to examine the choices one makes regarding their use of alcohol or other drugs. Counseling is also available to students who are concerned about a friend or family members drug use. Individual counseling is also mandatory for all Alcohol & Drug Policy violations

Workshops/Educational Programs: The director is available to present or coordinate workshops or educational programs. These programs are available to TSD, Athletics, Wing Meetings, and Clubs, among others.

The Substance Awareness Resource Library: A resource library has been established within the Student Development Center. The resource library is available to students, staff, and faculty who are interested in learning more about drug and alcohol issues.

Don’t Cancel That Class: When professors are away from class because of a conference/workshop, the Director will take the class. This can be done almost immediately by presenting a basic alcohol education program.

21st Birthday Card: All students celebrating a 21st birthday during the academic year are sent a 21st birthday card reminding them to enjoy their special day and if they choose to celebrate with alcohol to think before they drink. Parents of these students also receive a letter informing them of the card sent and to ask them to encourage their child to celebrate responsibly.

Student Activities: Throughout the academic year, the office sponsors many non-alcoholic activities.

BACCHUS (Boost Alcohol Conscienceness Concerning the Health of University Students): is an alcohol awareness & prevention program, promoting responsible decisions about the use of alcoholic beverages among college students. BACCHUS advocates informed decision-making and respect for the choice of abstinence. Its philosophy is that young people can play an effective role in encouraging their peers to reflect on, talk honestly about and develop responsible habits & attitudes in behavior toward alcoholic beverage use and non-use.
