Caldwell College has received notice from the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) that our network facilitated the illegal reproduction of copyrighted material. In order to abide by the laws against copyright infringement, the Gnutella protocol will be turned off May 1, 2008 and will no longer be available. Note that the shutdown of Gnutella includes disconnection of software clients such as Limewire and Morpheus, to name a few.

The College stands behind its Appropriate Use and Computer Ethics Policy which states that files and data accessed and shared are those that we own and are authorized to use.

Information Technology is reviewing the RUCKUS Network, Inc. service which provides students the opportunity to download legal and free music from various artists.
