Second Year Experience

Welcome to the Caldwell University Second Year Experience!

What’s so important about your second year at college? Caldwell University, like many other colleges and universities, offers special programs for freshmen, from New Student Orientation to Freshman Seminar classes and dedicated freshmen advisors. By sophomore year, many students have transitioned to a new advisor and declared a major. If you are a second-year student at Caldwell, we still have programs and staff targeted to your needs!

The Second Year Experience (SYE) Committee is here to assist with any questions you may have during that transition, provide support to students who are still undecided about their major, introduce career exploration and shadowing programs, and provide more opportunities to get involved on campus.

SYE goals focus on helping second year students in three general areas:

 • Identifying an academic major
 • Exploring and becoming aware of career opportunities
• Engaging in campus life

Programs sponsored by the Second Year Experience Committee include:

 • Welcome Back Block Party/Luau – Enjoy dinner, a DJ and fun activities to kick off the Fall semester!
 • Fall Career Carnival – An informal, fun-filled way to learn about majors and careers, social media and the job search,       resumes, scholarships, dining etiquette and more at this new program organized by the SYE Committee
• Clash of the Classes – An annual Spring competition between current sophomores and rising sophomores, held at Caldwell since Spring 2008
• SYE Shadowing Program – Get out into the workplace and explore your career interests! Students are paired with alumni and friends of the College representing a variety of careers and industries.
