My Final Project was to illustrate the historical perspectives of Pope Benedict XVI's letter to the Chinese Catholics issued on July 1, 2007. It focuses on the ministry work of helping the Chinese Catholics to understand and follow the teachings and directives from Pope Benedict XVI.

My plan for the future is to retire from the business world and take up a volunteering job to work for the Cardinal Kung Foundation which is a charitable organization helping the Underground Roman Catholics church in China to promote freedom of religion in that country.

I am a Chinese-American immigrated from Hong Kong 25 years ago. I loved history, especially Church history.

I, Sister Appolonia Egbuchulem, originally from Nigeria, and a member of the Religious Congregation of The Daughters of Mary Mother of Mercy, express my gratitude for the opportunity given to pursue the Master's Program in Pastoral Ministry at Caldwell College. The program indeed broadened my knowledge of God and the Church, and deepened my spiritual life. It helped me greatly to understand more and better the culture of the American Church. I strongly believe that the experiences I acquired in the program will continue to help me in my apostolate, in my service of the Lord, the Church, and the people. I strongly recommend the program to all.

I graduated from St. Clare's Hospital School of Nursing in 1972 and worked for a number of years in nursing supervision. I am married to a great guy, Rich for 25 yrs who works in Project management for the YMCA Greater NY. Having two children, Rich and Alison, redirected my focus from nursing to volunteering at the school where the children were attending.

I was asked to teach "CCD" and thought "I can't do that!" Well I started to teach and found that I love it. I wanted to know more about my faith so I could teach the children. I soon graduated from Christian Foundation for Ministry Program sponsored by the Archdiocese of Newark. After completing this program I hungered to explore my faith even more. My pastor encouraged me to take courses at Caldwell in Theology and eventually graduated with a B.A. Theology. I wanted to continue after my Bachelor's and now I am a graduate from Caldwell College with a Master's degree in Pastoral Ministry. Presently, I am presently a Parish Catechetical Leader at St. John's Parish and thanks to Caldwell I feel well prepared to lead others in faith.

After completing her undergraduate work at Caldwell College, she was excited about returning “home” to complete her academic career. Her most memorable and life-changing experience during the years she spent earning her degree was her trip to Rome and Assisi as part of the “Faith Seeking Understanding” course. Over the last several years, Stephanie has devoted herself to the youth of the Church by serving as local parish youth minister as well as campus minister in a Catholic high school. For her final project, she created a theological and practical guide for beginning a parish youth ministry program. By incorporating her personal experiences into her research, she has created a useful tool for new youth ministers. In April 2007, David O’Brien, Associate Director of Adult Faith Formation in the Archdiocese of Mobile, Alabama, asked Stephanie to submit her work to be used as part of a youth ministry course he will be teaching. As former youth minister in the Archdiocese in the Newark Archdiocese, David once lead several retreats that would shape her path to youth ministry during her high school years. She was honored that her former mentor would now, as a peer and colleague, use her work to educate others in the field. Since her graduation, Stephanie has also completed education in music ministry, which has included Archdiocese of Newark Cantor classes as well as training lead by nationally acclaimed Catholic singer-songwriter, Matt Maher. It is her hope to incorporate her musical gifts into various aspects of youth ministry, for example, vibrant and youth-friendly liturgies.

Donna ColeDonna Cole
I'm the editor of Ministry & Liturgy Magazine, and am the liturgical editor for the parent company, Resource Publications. That takes quite a bit of my time, but I also manage to squeak out a little time to teach at Caldwell (I'll be teaching Bioethics, Fall ‘05). My "day job" is at UMDNJ-NJ Medical School where I work in reproductive endocrinology research. In the midst of that, I work nearly every weekend and many evenings with the Coast Guard Auxiliary, in operational support of US Coast Guard Station Sandy Hook, as we strive to keep our country safe and free.

Jim GardnerBesides fighting the good fight in the work-a-day world, Jim Gardner volunteers a St. Barnabas in Pastoral Visitation. It is his hope some day to retire from his gainful employment and move into full time pastoral ministry. He writes: “My thesis was on starting and running a divorced and separated support group. It detailed what to do and how to do it, and was based on actual experiences. It was set up to be used as a guide so that any one, by reading it, would know exactly what to do and how to do it in order for the group to be successful. Someday I will tweak it a bit and possibly get it published. I am also writing an article defending infant baptism, and hope to get that published when it is finished.

Jim GardnerGladys Pozza’s new position at St. John the Baptist in Hillsdale, NJ, is Pastoral Associate for Family Catechesis. There are approximately 2,000 families in the parish. I am responsible for developing and supervising catechist and family faith formation for the parish through: direct management, shared responsibility, and collaboration with the pastoral staff. I am responsible for catechist, parent, and children's faith formation, the RCIA for children and their families, sacramental preparation, and evangelization. The emphasis is on parent and catechist formation.

In the midst of this, I also have a part time position as an internal consultant for The Reid Group/The Archdiocese of Newark. As an internal consultant I am involved in The New Energies Parish Transition Project in the Archdiocese of Newark. I work to assist parishes with their self evaluations, cluster conversations & suggestions, and implementation of the clusters to either partner, link or merge.
