A new graduate course:

The Contemporary Multicultural Church
With Dr. Rosann Bar, Ph.D and Sister Barbara A. Moore, O.P. D. Min. Monday and Wednesday Evenings: 6:00 to 9:30. May 17 to June 23rd.

PM 645 To assist students in dealing effectively with the multicultural dimensions of ministry and mission, this course provides the theological basis and history of the multicultural church, and the culture of its members, through class lectures and experiential learning, including expert guest lecturers, panel discussions, a visit to a historic site, cultural sensitivity training, and practical strategies for dealing with multicultural differences and conflict.

New and differing waves of immigration to the United States today have changed the composition of church communities. This cultural shift presents a challenge to both leadership and membership. There is a need for understanding the underlying tensions that come from cultures differing from European and/or North American roots. Church communities struggle for ways to integrate and become environments of welcome and hospitality.

Non-matriculating students may apply through the Graduate Office to register for this course. An undergraduate degree is required.
