SCHOLA CANTORUM ON HUDSON SOLOISTS PRESENT AN EVENING OF ALL-AMERICAN MUSIC

Schola Sings Solo Concert at Caldwell College

Jersey City, NJ – Soloists from the innovative choral ensemble Schola Cantorum on Hudson (SCH) present an evening of American music in the second installment of the 2009-2010 season's Schola Sings Solo recital series. The program explores operatic, art song, folksong and musical theatre repertoire. The roster of all- American composers includes Leonard Bernstein, John Bucchino, Aaron Copland, George Gershwin, Libby Larsen, Stephen Sondheim, Kurt Weill and others, with selections that include "One Hand, One Heart" and "Tonight" from West Side Story, "It Ain't Necessarily So" from Porgy and Bess, and "Willow Song" from The Ballad of Baby Doe. Dorian Lake, a composer and singing member of SCH, will perform his composition "If I Give Up My Wants." Schola Cantorum on Hudson's Artistic Director and Founder Dr. Deborah Simpkin King is one of the featured soloists. Dramatic Coach Chuck Hudson stage directs this presentation; Music Director Stephen Rapp provides accompaniment.

The concert will be presented on Saturday evening, January 23, 2010, at 8:00 p.m. at Caldwell College's Alumni Theater, 120 Bloomfield Avenue, Caldwell, New Jersey. In the event of snow or inclement weather, the concert will be presented January 30, 2010.
