CALDWELL COLLEGE OPENS NEW ROADWAY ENTRANCE FROM BLOOMFIELD AVENUE

Caldwell, NJ – July 6, 2006 - Caldwell College opened its new roadway entrance from Bloomfield Avenue with a special ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday June 28, 2006.

Caldwell College President SistSister Patrice Werner, O.P., Ph.D. is the first to drive down the new roadway.er Patrice Werner, O.P., Ph.D. and Board of Trustees Chairman Steven M. Freeman joined Caldwell Mayor Paul G. Jemas for the unveiling of the new entrance, which is just west of Ryerson Avenue.

“We are delighted that this new entrance will provide our faculty, students, staff and visitors with convenient direct access from Bloomfield Avenue. It is a wonderful addition to Caldwell College and the Borough of Caldwell,” Sister Patrice said.

The County of Essex completed a traffic signal modernization and safety improvement upgrade at the nearby intersection through a grant from the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

Essex County Executive DiVincenzo said, “I want to commend Caldwell College for creating a safer, more welcoming and convenient campus entrance. Caldwell College President Sister Patrice Werner, O.P., Ph.D., Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo Jr., Essex County Director of Public Works Philip A. LiVecchi and Essex County Chief of Staff Phil Alagia with members of the Essex County Department of Public Works who worked on the new roadway.   Like the College, we understand the importance of creating gateways, and have completed many façade enhancements at our County parks and facilities.” He said, “We are pleased that the intersection project we completed last year on Bloomfield Avenue, along with the upgrades made by the College, will help create a safer environment and improve traffic flow along one of our busiest County roadways. It is part of our ongoing initiative to modernize our infrastructure and address quality of life issues.”

The project was constructed by Hutton Construction. Architecture was done by RCC Design, Inc. Nadaskay Kopelson Architects provided design services for the new entry.
