Program Begins in Fall 2013

Caldwell, NJ – March 5, 2013 — The Caldwell University Nursing Department will begin offering an RN to Bachelor of Science of Nursing (BSN) online program for fall semester 2013. “We are excited to be offering this new nursing program. It will give registered nurses who want the convenience and flexibility of an online program the ability to enjoy the same comprehensive program as our on campus students,” said Marycarol Rossignol, PhD, RN, CNL, director of Caldwell’s nursing program.

Nursing courses can be completed in 12-months. The program is cohort-based where groups progress through the curriculum together. “This allows us to respond to the need in healthcare for advancing education of nurses while addressing the demand for nurses in the marketplace, both in New Jersey and nationally,” Dr. Rossignol said.

Caldwell’s BSN program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, a national accrediting agency. The department offers four entrance tracks: Second Degree, RN, Traditional and Transfer students leading to the BSN degree.

Selection of RN to BSN students is based on an admission GPA of 2.75. Nursing prerequisites are accepted with a grade of C or higher. Students may receive credit by challenge examination for science courses over five years old and may receive credit by challenge examination for the Health and Cultural Assessment course.

The RN curriculum is comprised of 61 credits of liberal arts core and prerequisite course work and 33 credits of nursing major course work. The 61 required liberal arts credits are often substantially reduced for the RN student after transfer credit evaluation.
