Caldwell College to Hold ‘Open Books, Open Minds II’ in March

The Caldwell College Division of Education will hold its second annual conference on children’s literacy, “Open Books, Open Minds II,” Friday, March 22, 2013. 

Walter Dean Myers, a national ambassador for young people’s literature, will deliver the keynote address, “Reading Is Not an Option.” After lunch, noted nonfiction author Penny Colman will offer the featured presentation, “Using Nonfiction to Promote Literacy.”

Additional presenters will include illustrator-author Eric Valesquez, author-blogger John Gibbs, author-poet Mel Glenn and many other literacy professionals.

The day will include workshops, discussions, book signings and literary prizes. Participants can earn professional development awards. More information will soon be available at www.caldwell.edu.
