Students Attend Seminar with MY 9 News Anchor Brenda Blackmon

Caldwell College students in Professor Bob Mann’s Senior Media Seminar attended the annual Journalism Retreat for College Seniors with MY 9 News Anchor Brenda Blackmon on Saturday December 4.

Brenda Blackmon is an Emmy award-winning veteran broadcast journalist who has been with the WWOR-TV news team since 1990. The seminar was held at the MY 9 studios in Secaucus, NJ.

The students were exposed to various aspects of television news production and had the opportunity to attend short seminars with News Director Jim Driscoll, writers, reporters, photojournalists and print reporters. Each student was given the chance to do a short television news report which was played back to the crowd at the end of the event.

"The communications industry is changing rapidly due to new media technology and economic pressures. The professionals at this Retreat gave students the facts about what college graduates need to compete. I'm proud to say that Caldwell College's Communication Arts program is constantly evolving to meet the demands of the changing media environment. Our students are already well prepared for what they'll face," said Professor Mann.
