Caldwell College honors Military Personnel, Veterans, and Caregivers with a free “Honor Our Women” American Beauty Day



On Saturday, June 11, Caldwell College hosted an “Honor Our Women” American Beauty Day of Relaxation, Beauty, Health and Wellness for Military Personnel, Veterans and Caregivers.
The beauty day featured free makeovers and free beauty product samples by Lord and Taylor, free haircuts and free manicures by Capri Institute and free facial care samples by Avon. There were also Health and Wellness booths with information on breast health, bone density screenings, counseling, substance abuse counseling, blood pressure checks, medical screenings, and support for caregivers and military benefits information.
Following a military welcome ceremony, Caldwell College President Dr. Nancy H. Blattner, Ph.D., gave the welcoming remarks, and said Caldwell College is proud of its affiliation with the Veterans Administration. She expressed gratitude to the military men and women who are currently serving and to those who have served in the past.
Lisa DiBisceglie, Associate Dean for External Partnerships at Caldwell College, welcomed the gathering and noted that Caldwell College was recently named a Military Friendly School for 2012 by G.I. Jobs magazine. Jana Mylott of the New Jersey Army National Guard gave additional motivational remarks.
Former New Jersey First Lady Mary Jo Codey was the keynote speaker and gave a moving address about her struggle with and treatment for depression.
Co-sponsors for the event were the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, the Essex County Executive’s office, Saint Barnabas Health Care System, N.J. Veteran’s Helpline – UMDNJ and the Veteran’s Center of Bloomfield.
