Caldwell College to Hold Counseling Conference

The Caldwell College Psychology Department will hold a Counseling Conference aimed at exposing students to different areas of Psychology on Saturday, October 23rd at 9 a.m. Students should arrive between 8:30 a.m and 9 a.m for registration and coffee. Students will have 3 workshop options to choose from for the 10 a.m session.

  • “Jumpstart your job search” with Geri Perret, Director, Career Planning and Development
  • “Steps to LPC licensure” with Sr.Catherine Waters,O.P. Professor of Psychology
  • “Caldwell College Helpline” with Greg Ieraci and Amira Badaan, graduate students in Caldwell College’s Counseling Psychology – Mental Health Counseling Specialization program

The second workshop begins at 11 a.m and students can choose from one of the following options:

  • “Intro to Applied Behavior Analysis” featuring Dr. Ruth DeBar, Assistant Professor of Applied Behavior Analysis program. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a science based approach to learning that is highly effective in teaching children with Autism.
  • “Art Therapy of School Counselors” featuring Professor Cindy Nelson, Art Therapy program professor and graduate
  • “A Day in the Life of an LPC.” featuring Professor Lisa Slade, LPC, adjunct faculty, Counseling Psychology

This year's keynote speaker will be Dr. Marie Wilson, Associate Professor of Art Therapy, who will give a presentation on "When Sex Becomes an Addiction” The wrap up session which begins at 12 noon will feature Thomson Ling, Ph.D. Assistant Professor of Psychology on “Brief Psychodynamic Treatments.”

The fee for the conference is $10.00. Undergraduates may attend at no cost. Registration forms can be picked up in the Psychology suite at Caldwell College.
