Very convenient for students!
Definitely better than I expected!
It reminded me of a mini-hotel!
It is absolutely beautiful!
A new fresh look!
Sweeter than home!

Those were the reactions of some of the Caldwell College students who moved into the new state of the art apartment style residence hall for the start of the academic year 2007-2008. The new dorm features beautiful suites, modern bathrooms and kitchens, wireless internet capability, laundry facilities on each floor, lounges with plasma televisions, large windows with spectacular views of the campus, its own mailroom, and a Jazzman Cafe.

“This is absolutely thrilling and a dream fulfilled. The new residence hall will meet the demands of increased resident student enrollment and it allows us to meet the New Jersey state objective to increase capacity for students. Plus, it is a beautiful place for our students to live, study and grow,” said Caldwell College President Sister Patrice Werner, O.P., Ph.D.

Students had the chance to play a role in the planning for the dorm. Rebecca Naylor, a junior at the College, was on a committee to pick out the furniture for the residence hall. She said vendors brought sample furniture on campus and students had the opportunity to vote on the furniture they wanted most for the dorm. Rebecca said that when she moved in she was amazed at how “gorgeous” and “state of the art” everything was and that was very nice to be able to see in her room the dresser and wardrobe she picked out as part of the committee.

Students also played a role in deciding on the configuration of the rooms. Although there are many suites with single bedrooms, there are more suites with two to a bedroom, because more students said they felt having a roommate is an important part of the college experience.

The construction company for residence hall was built by O.A. Peterson Construction Co. Inc. in Montclair, New Jersey.
