PROFESSOR BARNHART RECEIVES RELIGIOUS HISTORY HONOR FOR JOURNAL ARTICLE

June 8, 2009 – Caldwell College Associate Professor of History William Barnhart, Ph. D. is the recipient of the 2009 Nelson Burr prize, a national religious history research award. Barnhart was awarded this distinction from the Historical Society of the Episcopal Church for his article Anglican Volunteerism, Ecclesiastical Politics, and the Bath Church Missionary Association Controversy, 1817-1818, which was published in The Journal of Anglican and Episcopal History.

The Historical Society of the Episcopal Church annually awards the Nelson R. Burr Prize to the author of the most outstanding article that was published in The Journal of Anglican and Episcopal History.

Barnhart will formally receive the award on July 10 in Anaheim, California at the society's annual dinner.
