Barnes and Noble Opens its Doors on Campus at Caldwell College

Caldwell, NJ – July 7, 2011 – Caldwell College students and the surrounding community can enjoy the benefits of Barnes and Noble, as the campus store is now being operated by the book retailer.

Caldwell College President Nancy H. Blattner, Ph.D. said Barnes and Noble began operating the campus store on June 20th. “We are delighted that the Barnes and Noble staff is excited to engage the college and community and will bring more products and opportunities to campus for both Caldwell College students and members of our surrounding communities.”

Visitors to the campus store will find the latest bestsellers and magazines, a sitting area to read books, extensive digital supplies, a dorm life section, new college apparel, and most certainly, college textbooks! The store has an extensive book selection for students to browse, along with chairs for students to sit and read—just like any other Barnes and Noble bookstore.

The store offers a wide variety of books and entertainment and political magazines. Colorful pillows, bed sheets, and other eclectic home supplies are fresh additions to the store. Barnes and Noble gift cards and a wide variety of apparel, including rain boots, are available for purchase. Starting in the fall students will even be able to purchase pajamas! The new bookstore will also carry computer supplies, digital cameras and laptops.

Bookstore manager Tina Hart says the staff is excited to be on campus and that in addition to serving the students and faculty of Caldwell College, they hope members of the extended community will also “come by to pick up a bestseller, grab a magazine, or just relax in our comfortable seating area." She says their goal is to “create a bookstore that offers an exceptional retail experience while delivering the next generation of educational content - like eTextbooks and textbook rentals” and that they, “are committed to providing the outstanding products and services that students want, along with a growing array of innovative technologies that will make the bookstore an essential aspect of campus life.”

Upcoming events on campus will include lectures and book signings with well-known authors. Emmy-Award winning anchor for WNET/Thirteen (PBS) Steve Adubato, Ph.D., will present on “You are the Brand: Make the Connection and Build Your Bottom Line” on Tuesday, September 13, at 7 p.m. World-wide bestsellers Mary Higgins Clark and Carol Higgins Clark will present and sign their books on Tuesday, October 18 at 7 p.m. Admission is free. Both events will be held in the Alumni Theater. Authors’ books can be purchased in the campus store ahead of time or the evening of the events.
